Recycled paper!

Hello there again! Recently we have been making a lot (almost 100 cards!) of recycled paper to sell at the Gala day. For more info on the Gala day, see "Buy a seed bomb now! - Post not sponsored by anything!". I think the reason we are doing recycled paper because the Gala day seems to have a focus on being environmentally friendly. Unsurprisingly, the main thing we learnt was how to recycle paper (And that is very inclusive). I don't think many (Or any. That rhymes!) of us knew how to recycle paper. We all wrote a procedural writing text (At least a plan) on how to make paper (I'm pretty sure "making paper" and "recycling paper" both work), which I currently have with me. I have had to modify it a bit.

Making cards out of recycled paper

You will need:

  • Paper
  • A bucket
  • A mould and deckle
  • An egg beater
  • A sink
  • Glue
  • And finally, a small piece of paper

Making it

  1. First, get some paper (Try not to use newspaper, it is too inky)
  2. Then, rip it up over a bucket
  3. Leave the pieces in hot water for 30 minutes while you set up your mould and deckle
  4. Beat the paper with the egg beater
  5. Pour the paper into the sink
  6. Scoop the mould and deckle through it until you have a decent layer of paper
  7. Quickly turn it upside down
  8. Remove the mould
  9. Leave it to dry
  10. Once it is dry, fold in in half (Do it while it is landscape)
  11. Glue a bit of paper in it
  12. Put whatever you want on the front
  13. Done!
It was both good and bad. It was mostly good and it was very fun. It was also messy. Thankfully, during the messy parts, we wore art shirts. Probably the hardest bit was using the eggbeater back in Term 2. If you want to comment, please do. Bye!
