Googling (Well)!

Hello! Today (Yes, very fast) we completed a slideshow on how to be better at doing something done so often that it has entered our dictionaries. Yes, Googling. Google is very powerful. Especially when you use it cleverly, because it has lots of tricks up its sleeves (And a lot of surprises as well). Here is the slideshow (on being good at Googling)! If you want to do the quiz, you can also do it below the slideshow, without opening a new tab. By the way, you have to sign in to Google to do the quiz, so no one does it twice. If you don't want to do the quiz here, just click on the picture of it in the slideshow. Loading... Something I learned was how to make a quiz using Google Forms, because I have only ever made a Google Form twice, and a quiz with it never. Something I found hard was figuring out what to do with modifying the search results. Something I could probably do next time would be come up with some more questions for the quiz. Thanks for reading, and au re...

Literacy Tumble - or, a big change.

Hello everyone! Recently (actually, for the last 6 weeks) we have been try a new learning model - it has a name like that, anyway - for literacy (Reading and Writing),which is called, drumroll please -  dudlum  dudlum  dudlum - the Literacy Tumble! Basically, it is Google Slide where we have things we Simply Must Do, things we Probably Should Do, and things we Maybe Could Do. Actually it's just Must Do, Should Do, and Could Do. But the first ones sound better. Anyway, the number of Must do's vary, and so does what they are (it can be as little as 3, and as many as 5). Could and Should stay pretty much the same. This blog post is a Simply Must Do for Week 9. I think we have 10 weeks in a term. But our school often starts and ends on different dates, so don't rely on it being Week 9 for you too. Anyway, the general set of tasks is: Must Do's: Blog comment, Reading follow-up, and Writing follow-up. Should Do's: Creative Writing, Cybersmart Finishing, and Blog P...

Matariki/Pleiades/Seven Sisters/Messier 45/Melotte 22/...

Hello everyone! If you haven't noticed (you probably would have if you watch TVNZ, because they seem to have decided to advertise it) it's Matariki! A lot has been happening around Matariki (such as the kite day on top of Mt Roskill), or will be, and so we have been learning a lot about Matariki. If you were curious about the title, it's some of the different names for Matariki. In reading, we made a Google Slides about it, and here it is! And you aren't the only person who learned something. I had no idea that anyone said there were 7, not 9. I also had no idea that Taranaki couldn't see Matariki. If you were wondering when the Mt Roskill Kite Day is, it's on the 8th of July. If you want to comment, then do. Bye!

Celebration day thinking hats!

Hello! Recently we made a slideshow, which was about what we thought about the Celebration Day, such as what we thought was good, what we thought was bad, and what we would have changed. Here it is! We all made something related for our portfolio, and a QR code is supposed to link that to this presentation. At the Celebration day there were dances, stalls, and plenty of fun (even for babies!). It was a big success, and thankfully all the food got sold out. Apparently we made around $14k, and I expect more will come because we are having a gold coin day where we are going to sell what was left over. If you want to comment, please do! Bye!

All about camp, all about camp...

Hello everyone! As you may (or may not) have heard, last week we went to camp at Ruapehu. This year, I went. It was for four days. We had to either ski or snowboard, and I chose skiing. But that was not the only thing we did! We also did tobogganing and scenic chairlift rides. But that is not what I'm going talk about today (And no, I do not dictate to a computer to write blog posts.). Today, you are going to see a slideshow about camp. As a matter of fact, here it is! And yes, I know that normally, I would put a lot of photos at the bottom of the post, but I won't do that today because they are in the presentation. And so is most of the key info. But I'll tell you that anyway. So, we went to Mount Ruapehu for four days to ski or snowboard. There! All in one sentence. Skiing was very challenging, and everyone kept falling over. But most people managed in the end. Please comment. Bye!

I wasn't here on Thursday...

Hello everyone!  Today 24 students from our school went to New Windsor School in Avondale, for the Ako Hiko Student Toolkits. And what, you are probably asking, is that? Basically, it's where 21 to 24 students from every school in the Ako Hiko Cluster, come to one of the schools in it. The students do demonstrations on things like quiz making, or coding. It happens every year and, this year, I went! I didn't present, but everyone worked on something to present. Here is our one below. Our school had two topics to do: quiz making, which Anuk and I did, and animation using Google Slides. Izzy and Lily did quiz making, and Oscar, Alex, and Bruno did animation. I went to a coding session, then the quiz making one. Mr Riceman took a lot of photos, so here are some of them. These aren't all of them, though. I really enjoyed it, and I learned lots. Specifically, I learnt how to code a ping pong game, and quite a bit about making a quiz. Feel free to comment. Before you go, ple...
