We went to Tiritiri Matangi!

Image
Hello everyone! On Thursday 31st of May, we went to Tiritiri Matagi Island. If you have never heard of it, it is a small, pest free island, (Wikipedia article link here ) about 3 km away from Whangaparoa. We had to get to school by 7:30 (AM!), and the bus left at 7:50 (once again AM!). Then, we got the ferry to Tiritiri (from Pier 4 at Downtown Ferry Terminal, if anyone wants to know), via Gulf Harbour (basically a ferry terminal surrounded by an absolutely giant marina), on the Whangaparoa Peninsula. When we arrived, there was a weird little track along the right of the pier, which turned out to be the rails for a small cart that carried everyone's bags except ours. Then, we loaded our bags into the back of the van that carried them to the Visitor Centre. Then, we spent an hour or two walking up there, while the van probably could have went up and down about 10 times. Once we got up there, we had lunch (and chocolate, as a "thank you" from our guide), and looked at ...

If you don't want to be flooded, live in this house! - Post not sponsored by anything.

Hello everyone!  Before we get started, I have something to explain. I know my blog looks different. It's not an accident. I did it myself. If you're wondering where all the little gadgets went, the about me one has been updated and is sitting below the title, Search is the magnifying glass up and to the right of the title, and everything else, like Translate (new!), a list of dictionary's (new!) contributors, that calender of posts thingy, the cloud of labels, Report Abuse, Recent comments, and total views, are all in the three lines button up and left from the title. If you want to follow, it isn't at the bottom of the blog like it probably should be. Instead, it's in the menu under the three lines (anyone have a better name for it?). You can get email alerts as well  (please do, or else everyone can see your full name)  by clicking the button underdeath the about me.  But now, onto what I made, a (not entirely) flood proof house! I made it using Tinkercad . On ...

Welcome back!

Image
Hello everybody and welcome back to 2018. Yes, I'm still in Manukau (but a Year 6 now. Being a Year 6 doesn't feel very different from being a Year 5). No time for a welcome post though. Straight into work. Hello! Ok, so yesterday we made a DLO (A digital learning object) about how to keep your Chromebook safe. They were based on clauses in the Kawa of Care, by Ako Hiko  about taking care of your Chromebook. I made a Google Drawing. And here it is! I originally planned to use Piktochart (click here  to Google it), but I had to use a Google Drawing instead. And that pretty much sums up everything. Comment if you want. Bye!

Buy a seed bomb now! - Post not sponsored by anything!

Image
Hello there! This week, as part of our class inquiry, aka making (and selling) stuff made out of paper, I made an ad for seed bombs. I'm sure that most people reading this will be asking: What is a seed bomb? How does it have anything to do with paper? But first, here is the ad. A seed bomb is a ball of dirt with seeds and paper in it. You just put it in the garden (or throw it in, as some photos say) and then whatever the seeds were, it grows. So, that answers both questions, doesn't it? They will be sold in packs of 3 for a dollar, in Manukau. I'm afraid that is all I know about them, as I'm currently making gift cards (including a very difficult one with 2 candy canes). If you want to comment, please do! If you can, please come to the gala day. At Waikowhai Primary (Look on Google maps), on the 25th of November, from 10 AM to 3 PM. Bye!

About my character, James

Image
Last week, we made a character using Build your wild self  (or, as it calls itself, BuiLD YouR WiLD SeLF ) and here it is.  Vóila! We made a Y-Chart and a character description. Here is the Y-Chart: And now, here is the character description:  hmm, change tabs, higlight, ctrl+c Looks James has combed back, blonde hair. His shirt is blue and his pants are greyish-brown. He is wearing pale colored, laced shoes. He is 100% human. Actions When James is not being a secretary to The Leader of The Opposition, whoever that might be, he is enjoying the sights in Wellington and exploring them. Oh, and of course talking and having his nose in a book about politics. His latest read is called “The history of The Opposition of the New Zealand Parliament ” by P. Olitics, published by the Parliamentary Press. Odd name, don’t you think so? He often goes to protests and sells signs for them. He also makes up jokes and plays with little children lots. He, every...

After three fantastic weeks in a ILE...

Image
Hello everyone! On the 22nd last month, we moved into Te Waka Ako (click on it for a hilarious translation and here for a even funnier one, both wrong. It means "The canoe of learning") which is a ILE (innovative learning environment).  Once we had been in there for two days, which was on Wednesday that week, we did a reflection on our two days and here it is! I has really helped our learning as we have more choice, and we will be going with different teachers. The local MP (Michael Wood) making his speech The wonderful preformance of the Kapa Haka group MOE Property Division people looking on The unveiling of the sign A thank you to the wonderful Ms Sands, who put hours into that lovely sign. And the ribbon is cut! Ask him, not me! The whole school fits in here, and quite cosily The sculpture that claims the blue space as Ms Sands. Why can't the other teachers have them too? These people here should be learning in ...
