We went to Tiritiri Matangi!

Hello everyone! On Thursday 31st of May, we went to Tiritiri Matagi Island. If you have never heard of it, it is a small, pest free island, (Wikipedia article link here) about 3 km away from Whangaparoa. We had to get to school by 7:30 (AM!), and the bus left at 7:50 (once again AM!). Then, we got the ferry to Tiritiri (from Pier 4 at Downtown Ferry Terminal, if anyone wants to know), via Gulf Harbour (basically a ferry terminal surrounded by an absolutely giant marina), on the Whangaparoa Peninsula. When we arrived, there was a weird little track along the right of the pier, which turned out to be the rails for a small cart that carried everyone's bags except ours. Then, we loaded our bags into the back of the van that carried them to the Visitor Centre. Then, we spent an hour or two walking up there, while the van probably could have went up and down about 10 times. Once we got up there, we had lunch (and chocolate, as a "thank you" from our guide), and looked at the museum. There was a 3D map of the island (where we found what path we took there and what path we would take back). Then we went to the ferry terminal via Hobbs Beach, and then, at last, we arrived back at school. At 5:50 PM (a much more reasonable time than the arrival). It was a very tiring day. It makes me tired just typing about it. But now, I have (most of) the photos. Here they are!

On the ferry, but where?

Ooh, look! The now slightly controversial Ports of Auckland!

Fast ferry! The Sky Tower is nothing!

Rangitoto. Can I go?

Greedy takahe!

Ahh, what a beautiful view!

Sign! Oh, it reminds me of Wattle Bay.

I didn't get my hopes up when they said it was a cabbage tree. I do like cabbage, though.

Ant bridge, I presume?

Weta!

Lighthouse!

Ahh, civilisation at last.

Not sure how well you'll be able to see this panorama.

This lighthouse...

Wattle Bay memories again!

And again.

No rock pools at Wattle Bay, but there are some close by.

Off to Downtown we go!

Sea me? Get the joke? No?

Ahh, sea air.

Why is there not one picture of me standing on the upper deck, reading a pamphlet!?

Liferings ready? Check.

I, camera, plead guilty to crimes against privacy!

Beware of leaking gas (it smells like rotten cabbage)!

Lovely mural.

Hello!

Brown corrugated iron wetapunga
Ahh! Giant weta!

It was a very fun day. It was also very tiring. Afterwards, we had a lot of questions. Well, we would. These are the ones I want to know about!
If you want to comment, then do! Bye!
