Hello everyone! A couple weeks ago, everyone did a skit on a certain kind of animal. I, along with Clara, Shabeera, Conrad, Torian, and Ishaan, did a skit on reptiles. Hello!  T his week we are working on using descriptive language by sharing our writing straight onto our blog.  The challenge we have is to describe a place using only six sentences. After reading the description you need to guess the place that has been described. It would really help if you say what clues helped you come to this conclusion. Here is mine! I sit on a chair, with metal arms. A plane whooshes past me, but quite a bit away People walk past, clutching suitcases. I grip a document allowing me to travel. Hello everybody and welcome back to 2018. Yes, I'm still in Manukau (but a Year 6 now. Being a Year 6 doesn't feel very different from being a Year 5). No time for a welcome post though. Straight into work. Hello! Ok, so yesterday we made a DLO (A digital learning object) about how to keep your Chromebook safe. They were based on clauses in the Kawa of Care, by Ako Hiko  about taking care of your Chromebook. I made a Google Drawing. And here it is! I originally planned to use Piktochart (click here  to Google it), but I had to use a Google Drawing instead. And that pretty much sums up everything. Comment if you want. Bye!

Hello there! Yesterday we had a Wheels Day, and we sold off left overs (No food, it all got sold out, thankfully) from the Celebration Day. It was a gold coin donation day, meaning everyone wore mufti and brought a gold coin. As the Celebration Day itself was a success, I presume this was too. Some people slid right over the red cushions. Of course, others knocked them out of place. We also had a slip'n'slide, that had a number of laughs, such as when someone kind of did a roly-poly over the red cushions. Most of the laughs involved hilarious crashes into the red cushions. Often, two people went down together (I never did, though), which meant they went really far. I never crashed into the cushions. My feet just heavily tapped the cushions and some bubbly water went on to the grass in front of it. Everyone always got splashed in their face. The swimming pool was open as well. Hello there again! Recently we have been making a lot (almost 100 cards!) of recycled paper to sell at the Gala day. For more info on the Gala day, see " Buy a seed bomb now! - Post not sponsored by anything! ". I think the reason we are doing recycled paper because the Gala day seems to have a focus on being environmentally friendly. Unsurprisingly, the main thing we learnt was how to recycle paper (And that is very inclusive). I don't think many (Or any. That rhymes!) of us knew how to recycle paper. We all wrote a procedural writing text (At least a plan) on how to make paper (I'm pretty sure "making paper" and "recycling paper" both work), which I currently have with me. I have had to modify it a bit. Hello again! It's nearing the end of 2017, and considering I didn't post about Athletics day, I think I will now. When do we go over the hurdles? Our Athletics day was on the 14th of November this year. It was almost cancelled half-way through, because it was looking rainy and if I remember correctly, there was a very light drizzle at some time. But it went though, although I was finding it a bit too cold and noisy at the end so I was sent to help in the staffroom. Go everyone! One thing from that day I will probably remember a while is high-jump. That high-jump was only the second time I had ever done it without knocking over the bar. Another reason I will probably remember it was because the mat was incredibly hot, so I always ended up rolling onto the red cushions beside it. The runners look very small from here. Hello! Recently we made a slideshow, which was about what we thought about the Celebration Day, such as what we thought was good, what we thought was bad, and what we would have changed. Here it is! We all made something related for our portfolio, and a QR code is supposed to link that to this presentation. At the Celebration day there were dances, stalls, and plenty of fun (even for babies!). It was a big success, and thankfully all the food got sold out. Apparently we made around $14k, and I expect more will come because we are having a gold coin day where we are going to sell what was left over. If you want to comment, please do! Bye!

Hello there! This week, as part of our class inquiry, aka making (and selling) stuff made out of paper, I made an ad for seed bombs. I'm sure that most people reading this will be asking: What is a seed bomb? How does it have anything to do with paper? But first, here is the ad. A seed bomb is a ball of dirt with seeds and paper in it. You just put it in the garden (or throw it in, as some photos say) and then whatever the seeds were, it grows. So, that answers both questions, doesn't it? They will be sold in packs of 3 for a dollar, in Manukau. I'm afraid that is all I know about them, as I'm currently making gift cards (including a very difficult one with 2 candy canes). If you want to comment, please do! Kia ora everyone, it's Maori Language week. But that's not what I'm posting about today (I probably will later in the week). Today, we had a science show in the hall, which came from Australia.  Get this off me! We learnt lots, and I think that was the point. For example, did you know that water is the only known substance (at normal air pressure) that can be liquid (water), solid (ice), and gas (water vapour)? We also learnt quite a bit about mixing colours. Mix green, blue, and red together and you get brown. Ew! It even tasted horrible, according to the critics. They made huge bubbles that could probably fit a TV inside, as well as showing us rockets that use headache tablets 󠀢󠀢󠀢󠀢󠀢󠀢󠀢󠀢󠀢󠀢󠀢󠀢󠀢and fly off unexpectedly. This hairdryer could blow you all away! Hello everyone! As you may (or may not) have heard, last week we went to camp at Ruapehu. This year, I went. It was for four days. We had to either ski or snowboard, and I chose skiing. But that was not the only thing we did! We also did tobogganing and scenic chairlift rides. But that is not what I'm going talk about today (And no, I do not dictate to a computer to write blog posts.). Today, you are going to see a slideshow about camp. As a matter of fact, here it is! And yes, I know that normally, I would put a lot of photos at the bottom of the post, but I won't do that today because they are in the presentation. And so is most of the key info. But I'll tell you that anyway. So, we went to Mount Ruapehu for four days to ski or snowboard. There! All in one sentence. Skiing was very challenging, and everyone kept falling over.
